RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB
Six of Runnymede S.C. swimmers have achieved top 50 rankings on the A.S.A.’s End of Year National Age Group Rankings tables for 2005. The table is compiled at the end of every year by the A.S.A. and takes into account the fastest swims from all of the Age Group Licensed Meets held throughout the whole year listing the top 50 times in the Country for each event in all of the Age Groups.
Runnymede’s highest placed swimmer of the Year was Aaron Eveleigh in the boys 16 years where he was ranked 13th for 50m Butterfly, he was also ranked 37th for 50m Freestyle. In a difficult year due a bad skiing injury where Aaron broke his wrist he still managed to produced some excellent swimming and achieve such a high ranking. He is a credit to the Club and a great inspiration to the younger members of the Club.
The Clubs’ Top Boy for last Year, Henry Newton achieved the next highest Ranking, 17th in the Boys 10 years 100m Butterfly; he also had 2 further top 50 places. 30th in the 200m Butterfly and 49th in the 100m Breaststroke, this is outstanding for one of the Clubs youngest stars.
Runnymede’s highest-ranking girl for the 2005 was 13-year old Butterfly swimmer, Charlotte Davis who was 21st in the 200m event and 28th in the 100m. Charlotte had an excellent years swimming with some outstanding performances that resulted in her well-deserved position in the A.S.A.’s rankings.
Another of Runnymede’s up and coming youngsters is 11 year old Alex Delicata who achieved an outstanding 4 national top 50 placings; 28th in 200m Backstroke, 31st in the 200m Butterfly, 36th in 100m Backstroke and 49th in the 100m Butterfly.
Also in the Boys 11 year age group George Smith was ranked 33rd in the 200m Butterfly and in the Girls 13 years Sarah Wright was ranked 41st in the 200m Butterfly.
Head Coach Paul Eveleigh said “it demonstrates the clubs progress over recent years that the number of Top 50 ranked swimmers is improving year on year. Next year I hope several swimmers will appear in the Top 10”
