RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB
Runnymede Swimming Club sent a large team of 40 swimmers to compete in this years Easter Meet hosted by Southend-on-Sea Swimming Club. The squad under the guidance of ex-Southend Commonwealth Games swimmer Nathalie Brown, who is the Assistant Coach at Runnymede, had an excellent day with some outstanding individual performances winning a total of 27 medals in their respective age groups. The Gala consisted of 100m events in the four strokes for all age groups and the Runnymede youngsters were on top form.
Murphy Talbot, one of the Clubs up and coming junior swimmers had a particularly successful day winning 2 Gold Medals in the Freestyle and Breaststroke events and 2 Silvers Medals in the Fly and Backstroke. 11 year old Henry Newton had excellent swims winning the Gold Medal in the Fly and Backstroke and then went on to win the Bronze in the Freestyle and 4th in the Breaststroke.
13 year Patrick Neary, who is currently swimming well at all the competitions he has recently entered, secured the Gold Medal in the Breaststroke, Bronze Medals in the Backstroke and Freestyle events and a 4th in the fly. Also swimming well in the girls 15 year old Charlie Beale who won medals in all the events she swam in, including Gold in the Fly, Silver in the Freestyle, Bronze in the Backstroke and 5th in the Breaststroke. Younger brother Zachary also had an excellent day winning a Bronze Medal in the Freestyle, 4th in the Fly and 6th in the Breaststroke event in the 10 year age group.
Another Gold Medal went to 13 year old Jennifer Lamb who had an excellent swim in the
Freestyle and also won the Silver Medal in the Breaststroke. 10 year old Emily Muggleton won the Silver Medal in the Freestyle event in her age group and also secured the 4th Place Medal in the Backstroke and Fly. James Winnell also won A Silver Medal in the Butterfly event in his respective age group.
Thomas Honeysett also had an excellent days swimming, he won 3 Bronze Medals in the Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle events and also took fourth place in the Fly. Bethany Goldfinch won a Gold Medal for the Breaststroke in her age group and a fourth in the Fly.
Other Runnymede medallists were Matthew Davis (4th Breast and 6th Fly);Kelsey Ellerby (4th Breast); Ellie Honeysett (4th Breast); Emma Hall (5th place in the Breast, Fly and Back); Jonathan Ellis (5th Back); William Muggleton (5th Breast and 6th Freestyle); Sam Goldfinch (5th Fly); Blue Newton (6th Breast); Molly Giles (6th Fly; and Alice Robinson (6th Back).
The rest of the squad just missing out on Medals were Charlotte Broad, Hayley Mitchell, Rebecca Hayes, Danielle Valsaycer, Alice Fraser, Laura Bonner, Michaela Gilmore, Daisy Laffar, Sian Elmy, Karena Martin, Lucy King, Emma-Jane Kelsey, Josie McGee, Rebecca Horgan, Lloyd Burton, Zak Newton, Zach Whellams Jack Fraser and Adam Lamb.
