RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB

Runnymede SC had a squad of 25 swimmers competing at this years’ 1^st Block of Essex ASA County Championships, which included all the 50m events for each age group.

Henry Newton RSC’s Top Boy for last year continued his outstanding form with some fantastic swimming to reach the final in every event for the 9/10 years age group taking the Gold Medal in the 50m Fly; the Silver Medal in the 50m Backstroke; the Bronze Medal in the 50m freestyle and 4^th place in the 50m Breaststroke. These results put him in 2^nd place in his age group in the Individual Points in the Championships.

In the 13 years age group Sarah Wright took the Silver Medal in the 50m Backstroke event and went on to finish in 10^th place in the 50m Fly. Sarah is currently in 6^th place in the Individual Points table. Rebecca Scott (15 years) and Patrick Neary (12 years) secured 5^th places in the 50 m Breaststroke events. Rebecca also finished with top to place in 2 other events 50m Fly (8^th) and 50m freestyle (10^th). Patrick was 9^th in the 50m Backstroke and 13^th in the 50m Fly.

Thomas Giles swimming in his first County Championship Final finished in 6^th place in the 9/10years 50m Breaststroke, an excellent performance by one of the clubs youngest swimmers. Thomas qualified for all 4 of the 50m events and his other results were 17^th Backstroke; 20^th in the Fly and 25^th in the freestyle.

Charlotte Davis and Charlotte Delicata (14 years) both had excellent results finishing in 7^th place in the 50m Fly and 50m Breaststroke events respectively. Charlotte Delicata also swam in all events and her other results were - backstroke (14th), Fly (17^th) and Freestyle (23^rd). Charlotte Davis finished in 14^th place in the freestyle.

One of the Clubs youngest up and coming stars swimming in his first ever County Competition Rory Geoghegan (9/10 years) was outstanding in the 50m Fly also finishing in 7^th place.
