Runnymede Swimming Club Annual Award Presentation Evening

Runnymede Swimming Club celebrated their swimmers and clubs achievements at their Annual Awards Presentation Evening which held at Rayleigh Mill Hall on Saturday 17th January.

Receiving their Trophies and Medals from their 2008 Club Championships held in October 2008 from the Club's newly appointed Head Coach Grant Williams, the swimmers and members of the club had plenty to celebrate.

The Club's Top awards this year went to 11 year old Ellie Pirrie "Overall Top Girl"; 15 year old Matthew Winnell "Overall Top Boy"; and 14 year old Chloe Davis "Most Improved Swimmer"

The evening was also an excellent opportunity to present the Club's 2008 Jack Petchey Foundation Winners with their commemorative medallions; winners pictured below include - Matthew Winnell, Hayley Mitchell, Charlotte Davis, Mark Greenbaum, Murphy Talbot, Sonny Canham, Kieran Neary, Patrick Neary, Ellie-Jade Smith, Lloyd Burton and Amy-Rose Smith. As well as receiving their Medallions the winners of The Jack Petchey Achievement Award also win £ 300 for Club Funds which they have an input as to how the money is spent.

The Club were also delighted to welcome to their first ever Runnymede Awards Evening their newly established SwimAbility Squad together with their coach Naomi Pallier. The Club is very proud of this squad and is one of the few in the region that have a specially designated squad for children with Physical and Learning Disabilities. This was the first year that the Club had integrated events into the annual championships for the SwimAbility Squad and those that took part had a fantastic time. They are pictured below with Naomi and 2 of The Clubs youth swimmers (Patrick Neary and Chloe Davis) who assist with the squad.

The Clubs other award winners were Assistant Coach Keith Muggleton who was "Volunteer of the Year" and Club Helper Paul Elmy who won the Clubs award for “Club Member of the Year"

The swimmers are currently training hard for the forthcoming County Championships which commence this weekend and are looking forward to another successful season.
