RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB.

 

 

Runnymede S.C. had some excellent Individual and Team Performances at this years’ Essex County ASA Senior/Junior and Special Relays Championships.

 

In the Special Relays competition some of the Clubs youngest swimmers were competing in their first ever County Championships and they all rose to the occasion to produce some excellent results. The best of the day was the boys 9-10 years A team (Henry Newton Ben Jobson Thomas Giles & James Spicer) who won the Bronze Medal in the 4x50m Medley event, an outstanding achievement for them swimming against some of the best teams in the County. They also went on to take 4th place in the final of the 4x50m freestyle Relay. The B Team (Matthew Monte Harrison Mead Lloyd Burton & Daniel Nobes) in the same age group was 13th in the Medley Relay and 14th in the Freestyle. Turning to the older boys in the 11/12 years age group the A team (Alex Delicata Jonathan Ellis George Smith & Patrick Neary) also produced some excellent results winning 4th place in the final of the Medley 4x50m and 7th place in the 4x50m freestyle event with the B Team (Matthew Brown Thomas Honeysett James Craigie and Joe Thompson) finishing in 15th place in the Medley and in the Freestyle.

 

In the Girls competition the 11/12years A Team (Chloe Davis Jenny Lamb Lauren Cox & Yvette James) finished 13th in the Medley and the freestyle relays and the B Team (Amy Barrell Alice Robinson Sara Trenery & Bethany Goldfinch) were 18th in the Medley and 19th in the freestyle. In the 9/10 years the A Team (Alice Cain Ellie Wood Molly O’Brien & Ellie Jade Smith) were 10th in the Medley and 13th in the Freestyle and the B Team (Ellie Honeysett Alice Fraser Charlotte Hartin & Eloise Jennings) 14th in the Medley and 18th in the freestyle.

 

In the Individuals Competition 6 of Runnymede’s’ Age Group swimmers attained the qualifying times to swim in this years Senior/Junior County Championships competing against the best of the County’s older and more experienced swimmers, 3 of whom finished in the top ten for their respective events and the others achieving top 20 places.

 

Aaron Eveleigh was outstanding and swam superbly to win the Bronze Medal in the Men’s 50m Fly (1st Junior) together with 6th place in the Men’s 50m Freestyle. He also went on to finish in 11th Place in the 100m Fly and 13th in the 100m Freestyle.

 

Rebecca Scott had an excellent weekend with brilliant swims in the Women’s Breaststroke events finishing in 5th place (4th placed Junior) in the 200m, 10th in the 100m and 9th in the 50m.

 

Charlotte Davis swam a brilliant 100m Fly race in a personal best time to finish in 8th position overall and also finished 14th in the 200m Fly event.  Charlotte Delicata with an impressive tally of 6 qualifying times for this years championships finished in the top 20 for 4 of them; 200m Backstroke (13th), 50m Backstroke 18th, 100m Backstroke (16th) and 400m I/M (15th).

 

Sarah Wright and Samantha Knight also swam well in their respective events, Sarah was 16th in the 50m Backstroke and 21st in the 100m Fly; and Sam 19th in the 50m Breaststroke and 21st in the 100m Breaststroke.
