RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB

 

 

Runnymede S.C. took a small squad of swimmers to compete the Rushmoor Royals S.C. Autumn Meet in Aldershot. The Meet, an ASA Licensed Level 2 Meet, was the Clubs first long course competition of the season and was attended by some of the top swimmers from the south of the Country.

 

The team performed extremely well through the weekend’s events with 4 of them securing top six places in their respective age groups. Rebecca Scott had an outstanding swim in the 13/14 years 200m Breaststroke to win 1st place; In the same age group Charlotte Davis finished in 3rd place in the 200m Fly and Charlotte Delicata secured two 4th places in the 200m Backstroke and 400m I/M events; In the Boys 9/10 years Henry Newton swam superbly to finish 5th in the 800m Freestyle and 6th in the 400m Freestyle.

 

Competing in their first ever long course open meet for Runnymede in the 9/10 years age group were 3 of the Clubs up and coming new stars - Thomas Giles, Henry Newton and Alice Cain who all swam extremely well in their events. Henry had an excellent competition with his already mentioned 2 top 6 places, he also finished with a 9th place in the 200m Backstroke. Thomas finished in an impressive 10th place in the 200m I/M, 11th in the 200m Breaststroke and 13th in the 200m Freestyle. Alice did extremely well finishing 19th in the 200m freestyle, 23rd in the 200m I/M and 24th in the 200m Breaststroke.

 

In the 11/12 years Age Group Alex Delicata was 7th in the 200m Freestyle and 10th in the 200m Backstroke and in the girls Chloe Davis had an excellent swim in the 400m I/M event finishing in 10th place. She also swam in the 200m Backstroke (23rd) and 200m freestyle (27th).

 

In the 13/14 years Rebecca Scott added 2 16th places to her Gold for 200m Breaststroke, in the 200m I/M and 200m Backstroke and was 32nd in the 200m Freestyle. Charlotte Davis also finished in 14th place in the 400m I/M, 28th in the 200m freestyle and 33rd in the200m I/M.

 

Charlotte Delicata was consistent, finishing the top 10 in all but one of the events she competed in, an excellent weekend swimming gave her the previously mentioned two 4th places, 8th place in the 200m I/M, 10th place in the 400m freestyle and 18th in the 200m freestyle.

 

In a rare appearance at a long course open meet Charlie Beale swam well finishing in 15th place in the 200m fly, 26th in the 200m I/M and 29th in the 200m freestyle.
