RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB

Runnymede Swimming Club sent a large team of 30 swimmers to compete in this years Easter Meet hosted by Southend-on-Sea Swimming Club. The squad under the guidance of ex-Southend Commonwealth Games swimmer Nathalie Brown, who is the Assistant Coach at Runnymede, had an excellent day with some outstanding individual performances. The Gala consisted of 100m events in the four strokes for all age groups and the Runnymede youngsters were on top form.

Two Runnymede swimmers had a particularly successful day both winning 3 Gold Medals and a Silver Medal each, Chloe Davis in the 12 years age group despite doing an hour and half’s training session in the morning before the Gala started swam brilliantly to win Gold Medals in the Backstroke, Fly and Freestyle followed by Silver in the Breaststroke in personal best times.

Rebecca Scott, who also attended the training session in the morning before the Gala had superb performances in the 15 years Age group taking Gold in the Breaststroke, Fly and Freestyle and Silver in the Backstroke.

Gold Medals also went to Jason Daniels in the 14 years Fly event winning this in a new Event Best Time; he also went on to take the Silver Medal in the Backstroke and 4^th place in the Freestyle. Charlie Beale in the Girls 14 years secured 2 Gold Medals with excellent swims in the Fly and Freestyle events with George Smith (12 Years) winning Gold with an excellent swim in the Backstroke and a Bronze Medal in the Fly event in his age group.

Thomas Giles also had an outstanding day winning an impressive 3 Silver Medals in the 11 years age group in the Fly, Backstroke and Breaststroke events and Ryan Daniels (12 years) won 2 Silver Medals in the Fly and Freestyle then went on to win Bronze in the Backstroke event.

Other Bronze Medallists for Runnymede were Howard Clarke (15 years) Fly, Thomas Honeysett (12 years) Breaststroke and youngster Rory Geoghegan (10 years) in the Freestyle and Breaststroke.
