RUNNYMEDE SWIMMING CLUB

 

 

 

Runnymede SC held their annual Presentation Evening on 7th January 2006 at Raleigh Mill Hall and were delighted that British Commonwealth Double Gold Medallist and Olympic Swimmer Rebecca Cooke was able to attend the evening to present this years Awards to Swimmers and Volunteers.

 

The Club’s Assistant Coach, Nathalie Brown herself an ex-Commonwealth and British Swimming Team Member from Southend, who Runnymede are delighted and honoured to have on their Coaching Team, asked Rebecca if she would like to be Guest of Honour at the event. Rebecca very kindly agreed to fly down from Glasgow where she is currently training and studying to spend the weekend with Nathalie and the Club for the Presentation Evening and then to attend the next days training session at Runnymede Swimming Pool.

Awards were also presented to 5 of the clubs’ Coaching Team who have given 5 or more years Voluntary service namely Mandy Smith; Gill Trenery; Shirley Topel; Andrea Prophet and Gary Fraser and Volunteer of the Year Award went to the Clubs’ Secretary Heather Davis.

 

At the following days training session the children were very excited about the opportunity of being able to train with an Olympic and British Team Member and pick some valuable tips and advice from a World Class Swimmer, each squad spent 20 minutes with Rebecca and the Junior Development Squad who are the youngest swimmers training at the club were delighted that Rebecca spent time with them in the small pool

 

Rebecca had also brought her Commonwealth Gold Medals with her for the children to look at and spent time signing autographs on their Certificates before heading off to the airport for her flight back to Glasgow.
