RUNNYMEDE S.C.
Runnymede’s 10/12 years Girls Relay
Team were in outstanding form at this years Southern County A.S.A Youth
Championships at Crystal Palace
on Sunday. The Medley Team, comprising of Sarah Wright (Back) Samantha Knight
(Breast) Charlotte Davis (Fly) and Verity Goodey
(Free) finished in an amazing 7th Place in a time of 2.24.65, all of
the girls managed to produce personal best times in a 50m Pool. This was an
amazing achievement for Runnymede who were
probably one of the smallest clubs competing against some of the biggest and
best clubs in the South of the Country covering Essex,
Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent,
Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex,
Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire.
The girls also did extremely well in the Freestyle Relay
Competition finishing in 13th Place in a time of 2.09.01. With a
slight change to the team, Georgie Hunt swimming
instead of Samantha Knight they again managed to produce personal best times.
Coach Paul Eveleigh was delighted with their
performances and this excellent result.
The girls have had an excellent season so far with numerous
individual Southern County qualifying Times between them together with several
medals from this years County
Championships.
The boys teams competed in both
competitions and did well against some tough opposition. They finished in 19th
Place in the Medley and 25th in the
Freestyle. The boy’s team consisted of George Smith, Alex Delicata,
Elliot Eveleigh, William Muggleton
and Hugh Smith.
Alex Delicata (Boys 10 Years) did
well in his individual 400m Freestyle race held on the same day and finished in
25th place, he was the only qualifier from Essex
to compete in this event.
Turning to Runnymede’s other teams,
the Mini League Team had an excellent result in round 3 finishing in 1st
Place and beating the current League Champions.
Assistant Coach Kay Goodey was extremely pleased with
this result and said that all of the team swam brilliantly.
