RSC have been swimming in various competitions throughout the Easter period with some outstanding results following their recent great performances at this years ECASA Age Group Championships

 

            4 swimmers travelled to Ponds Forge in Sheffield for the Easter weekend qualifying to take part in the City of Sheffield Swim Squad Premier Open Meet. This was a licensed level 1 competition and was attended by many of the countries top swimmers. 14-year-old Chloe Davis had an excellent weekend qualifying for the finals of 2 events, 200 I/M and 200m backstroke and 11-year-old Kayleigh Sims reached the final of the 100m breastroke. Kayleigh had some great results and is currently only 0.07 seconds outside her national qualifying time for the 100m breastroke and 1.7 seconds outside the 200m breastroke.

            10-year-old Ellie Pirrie, Castle Points Sports Council Junior Sports Personality of the Year had a busy weekend qualifying and competing in some 10 events. She had some outstanding swims and is also getting closer to her National qualifying times.

            16-year-old Charlotte Davis had some excellent swims in the 200m and 100m freestyle and fly events qualifying for ERASA Youth Championships in May.

            Turning to more local events the Club sent a large squad to the Southend –On-Sea Swimming Club Easter Meet held on Good Friday at Warrior Square. The star of the day was 11-year-old Murphy Talbot who is currently one of the clubs most improved swimmers this year. Murphy has been training extremely hard recently and this paid off at the Easter Meet where he took the gold medal in all four events for his age group and producing an event best time in the100m freestyle.

            2 gold medals also went to 12-year-old Kelsey Ellerby in the fly and freestyle. Kelsey also went on to take silver in the backstroke. 14-year-old Patrick Neary had a great day swimming winning gold in the 100m breastroke, silver in the 100m backstroke, bronze in the 100m fly and 4th in the100m freestyle.

            RSC other medallists were: Hayley Mitchell gold in 100m backstroke, Mark Greenbaum silver in 100m freestyle and fly, Will Muggleton Silver in the 100m fly and bronze in the freestyle and backstroke, Tom Honeysett silver in the 100m freestyle, Shannon Wennington silver in the 100m fly, Jonathon Ellis silver in 100m backstroke, Jenny Lamb bronze in the 100m freestyle, Karis Ellerby bronze in 100m freestyle and Molly Giles bronze in the 100m fly.

 

            The clubs other swimmers narrowly missing out on medals were Megan Beard, Sarah Ellis, Sophie Hayward, Ebony Talbot, Lauren Greenbaum, Amy Smith, Alice Fraser, Emily Muggleton, Ellie Honeysett, Lauren Beard, Yvette James, Sian Elmy, Elizabeth Carter, Danielle Valsaycer, Charlie Beale, Megan Stunt, Paige Gill, Annie Garrard, Dina Day, Shannon Sims, Thomas Giles, Matthew Shelford, Elliot Hart, Zachary Beale, Sonny Canham, Jack Fraser and Byron Wood.
