Runnymede S.C. have produced an incredible 42 Southern County Qualifying Times this year with 15 different swimmers each achieving one or more of the consideration times for this years Championships at Crystal Palace. This is 3 times more qualifying swimmers than the clubs entry last year.

 

All the swimmers have had a fantastic season this year especially at the A.S.A.’s Essex County Championships with 62 top 6 places between them, including 10 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 11 Bronze Medals, 14 4th places, 10 5th places and 11 6th places. Again a vast improvement on last year’s total of 11 top 6 placings. 

 

Aaron Eveleigh, who this year competes in the Southern County Youth Championships, has an amazing 11 qualifying times and at the County’s he was in outstanding form winning Top Boy for his Age Group.

In his 100m Freestyle Event he produced an Event Best Ever Time, which is an excellent achievement. Aaron’s strength in all disciplines was remarkable and his Medal tally for this years competition was 9 Gold Medals 2 Silver 1 Bronze 2 4th places 1 5th and 1 6th, a total of 16 top 6 placings.

 

Runnymede’s other Gold Medallist was Sarah Wright, winning the 11 years & under 50m Backstroke competing at her first county’s with a total of 8 top 6 places adding 1 Silver Medal, 2  4th places, 3 5th’s and a 6th. She has also qualified for the Southern County’s in 100m Backstroke event.

 

Georgie Hunt who has been in top form for all of this season secured a massive 14 top 6 places at the County’s finishing in 2nd place in the Top Girl Competition for the 11 years and under age group. Her Medal collection included 3 Silvers, 2 Bronze 5 4th places 3 5ths and 1 6th. Georgie has qualified for an exceptional 8 Southern County events.

 

Alex Delicata and George Smith have produced some tremendous swims in the 10 years and under age group competing in their first County Championships. Alex had a total of 8 top 6 places with 2 Bronze, 2 4th places 3 5ths and a 6th and has qualified for 4 Southern County events. George had 4 top six places with 2 bronze medals a 4th place and a 6th place doing well in all of the Butterfly events, he has qualified for the Southern County 200m Fly event.

 

Sarah Jarrett did well in the 50m events at County Level winning a Bronze Medal in the Freestyle and qualifying for Crystal Palace and was also 6th in the Breaststroke.

William Muggleton has also been swimming well this season in the 10 years and under age group. He has achieved 3 Southern County times all in 200m distances, freestyle, breaststroke and I.M. He had 4 top 6 places at the county’s 2 4ths and 2 6th’s.

 

Samantha Knight has been excellent in the Breaststroke events this year and has secured Southern County times in the 100m and 200m events winning 6th place and 4th place respectively at the County’s for these events.

Some excellent swims in the girls 12 years age group Butterfly events at the County’s and other open galas has given Charlotte Davis some excellent results finishing 5th in 100m at County’s. She has achieved Southern county times in both the 100m and 200m events and some excellent recent P.B.’s put her in good stead for the Southern County’s.

 

Charlotte Delicata, Claire Ketley and Verity Goodey all have qualifying times for Crystal Palace in the 400m and 800m freestyle (Charlotte) 100m and 200m Breaststroke (Claire) and 100m Fly (Verity). Charlotte was 6th in the 400m free at County’s and Claire was 6th in the 100m Breaststroke for their respective age groups.

 

Matthew Scott has achieved a Southern County qualifying time in the 13 years 100m Butterfly event and Hugh Smith has qualified for the 12years 200m Butterfly.

Charlie Beale has also qualified for the 100m Butterfly event at Southern County’s.

 

The depth of the Club’s strength has grown dramatically over the last year and Club Coach Paul Eveleigh, who is delighted with the results, said  It is very satisfying that our number of swimmers qualifying at this level has increased by 300% in one year, a truly fantastic result and is a reflection of the hours that many of them put into their training over the past year”.  He is also extremely pleased with team who have reached the Diddy League final, which is to be held on 6th June at Barnet Copthall.
