New to the club Scott Cleaver (17) was outstanding in his
first ever competition, winning three first places (25m breast, 25m back and
25m free). Kieran Neary (14) continued
to improve his swimming times coming 1st in the 50m free, 2nd
in 50m back and 3rd in the 100 Individual Medley. Ben Kadwill (16)
knocked seconds off his personal best times and won two 3rd places
(25m back and 25 breast). Paige Victory (13) continued
her good form by coming 2nd in the 25m breaststroke and 3rd
in the 25m backstroke. Other swimmers from the SwimAbility Squad swam great
races to achieve improved personal best times: Callum Hodgson, Kieran Moon, Harry
Robson, Stephane Rouyer-Brown and Taylor Brown. Competing in their first ever
swimming gala Anthony Fletcher, Luke Weeks and Sam Downing swam excellent races
to gain their first official times. As well as coming home with medals, they
all had a fantastic time and did the club proud.
SwimAbility Coach Naomi Pallier and assistant volunteer
coaches Chloe Davis and Patrick Neary were absolutely delighted with the
results. “We are so proud of them. On one of the hottest
days of the year and following a long coach journey, they swam their hearts
out!” said Naomi.
The SwimAbility Squad is part of Runnymede Swimming Club; it is one of
the few swimming clubs in the region that has a designated squad for children
with physical and learning disabilities. Swimmers from the SwimAbility Squad train
alongside the other squads on Saturday lunchtimes and integrate into the
mainstream squads as and when they are ready. For more information contact:
